Drainage

Drainage work around the first green will really help the playabilityof this green surround all year round. We have now drained and gravel banded the right hand side of the greens, verticored the back, topdressed and seeded it all hopefully with today's rain it will all recover very well in time for winter.

More work to help create a better course for the winter at Bearwood Lakes. Next stop is the 11th green surround.

We did some preliminary work today and look what we found.

Irrigation install moled through the drainage. Great!!!!!

This is original drainage and the damage a fairway install can bring. I think there are hundreds of these to find. Oh well, we have all winter!!!

Rain

Seventeen mil of rain overnight. Good job we have spent the last two years on drainage. It will make a great difference.

The latest work has been some gravel banding on the right hand side of the first green. This area was always wet and now with the removal of the gorse, a main added and now some gravel banding this area should be much better, especially for you slicers!!!

Work on five

The work to improve the drainage on the 5th hole has also allowed us to massively improve the woodland on the right hand side. The pond has been brought more into play and the small Scots pines have been removed to open up an amazing backdrop of corsican pines and hemlocks.

The only problem is that it highlights the poor planting before it. It could be a much bigger jobs than we thought but well worth it in the end.

Bunkers

The bunker work this week looks great. Neat, tidy but totally natural looking.

More drainage

One of the most important drainage arteries on the golf course is from the 3rd green to 5th ditch via the pond on the right if the fifth fairway. We are making sure it all works for the winter and adding in a spur round the 6th tees to help drain this notoriously wet tee surround and tee complex. We also repaired two main drain which were blocked with tree roots. They have been running ever since!

This work will continue to make the golf course more playable and better quality in the winter.
