Work has stopped for a few days over Christmas but we will be cracking on before New Year and we are really getting close to the end now.
I have put up a couple of pics up of progress so far - the drainage is in for the approach (still got the fairway and walk off to do) and the weirs and irrigation are nearly done. Paths, soil seed, turf and plants left to do plus an extra bit of lake extension to really set it all off. All the pretty stuff really, although some of the views we have created so far are stunning. The project will really move forward over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye on it. Have a great Christmas and thanks for following this blog. Numbers are massively up and I would like to everyone for their interest.

Greenkeeping
This picture says it all about greenkeeping to me.
Clearance of poor specimens or poorly located trees allows real features to be made more visible for golfers to see and enjoy - plus great team work, good fun, sense of achievement and a bloody good fire on a cold day!

Heathland restoration
Many of you have seen that we have been working on the right hand side of the 8th hole. This area has become so dense over the years, but it is full of heather and self set pine trees. I have just put a few photos up of the work so far. We have thinned it out so and it looks fantastic (although I always do the photos at the end of the day so the light is very poor, sorry) and it will look stunning when the heather flowers next year. We are trying to get a pine woodland with an acid grassland and heather understory as a feature round the course where possible and hopfully the view will span the whole length of the entrance to the course, giving players a taste of what is to come!

Work is going very well on the lake construction. The approach is roughly shaped. It will now need drainage and rootzone before turfing. We will be extending upper lake and putting in some new tarmac paths to access the 11th tees. The sleepers are in and we just have one more weir to build. It is really starting to look great. With the heather work by the tees this is really going to be one of the best holes on the golf course.
Next week the irrigation contractors are here to put in the irrigation improvements and we will really be on the home straight.
Just a few pics from the end of the day today. That approach shot into ten is really looking tough!!
